The Catalog Drawings     

The Catalog Drawings are continuous contour line drawings based on taxidermy catalog images and were born out of the boredom that sets in when you are snowed in for 3 days with no art materials besides a pad of Bristol board, some micron pens and an old MacKenzie Taxidermy Supply Catalog. The line is both an action and a description, explores how taxidermy is an attempt to make a static object appear alive and on the edge of movement, and examines the tension of using a somewhat absurd object as a placeholder for an almost entire animal. The forms vary greatly in detail and cover an incredible array of possibilities from domestic animals like coon hounds to the most exotic and unlikely "trophies", whole or in parts. The Pack is one continuous line drawing of all the coyote taxidermy forms from one catalogue.
